This summer, iEmergence welcomed a number of urban Indigenous families from Saskatoon to Beaver Creek Camp for our annual iE Culture Camp, in partnership with the Salvation Army. After almost a decade of involvement with iEmergence culture camps, it was a special gift for Sarah and Jordan Favel to experience culture camp alongside local friends and neighbours from Saskatoon.

Guided by Nichole and Meg Forbes, the craft shack came alive with laughter and learning as young women and their caregivers created ribbon skirts and art projects that celebrated cultural identity and creativity.

Each day wove together teachings from the Circle of Courage, nurturing belonging, mastery, independence and generosity among the children and youth while spending time on the land.

Through the lens of Indigenous Appreciative Inquiry (IAI), we asked, "What is life like at its best?" — centering the voices of Indigenous young people to shape the future of our land-based learning programs. From the joy of swimming to harvesting feast berries alongside Chef Jenni Lessard and wacky creations built at the "imagination creation station," the week invited our community to share in the good life together — rooted in culture, connection and community.
